Kay Karre’ Gautreaux is a highly respected and experienced attorney having practiced law in Lafayette for 33 years.  Born and raised in Lafayette, Kay has a earned a reputation for hard work, honesty, and integrity in her personal and professional life.

Your next District Judge must understand all aspects of law, including civil and criminal law, all areas of litigation, and managing jury and non-jury cases. The Judge must know how to serve the public and understand the work of the court system.  Not only has Kay practiced law in all these areas of law, in her early career she has worked as a legal assistant to two district judges in both state and federal court.  Additionally, Kay has served as a judge pro tempore, making her the only candidate with some Judicial experience.

Valedictorian of her high school class, a magna cum laud graduate of USL, and a graduate of LSU Law School, Kay has a strong academic record that will serve her well as your next District Judge.  Committed to the legal profession, Kay has worked in and served in all areas of the practice of law, making her the most qualified candidate. 

In addition to her law practice, Kay Karre’ Gautreaux is committed to public service.  She has served on many boards and committees, including the Lafayette Parish Bar Association Board of Directors, Lafayette Volunteer Lawyers Board, University of Louisiana Alumni Board of Directors, St. Thomas More Advisory Council, Our Lady of Fatima Foundation Board, Our Lady of Fatima Alumni Council, Acadiana Republican Womens, Lafayette Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Lafayette Junior League of Lafayette.

Kay’s outstanding leadership and commitment to service was evident when she was selected as the Outstanding Young Lawyer for State of Louisiana, in 1996, University of Louisiana Volunteer of the Year, Louisiana State Bar Foundation Fellow Honoree, 2012 Distinguished Warrior Award, and Named “Best of Acadiana”
Kay Karre’ Gautreaux is married to Mitch Gautreaux and together they have two children, Michelle and Matthew.  Kay Gautreaux is the daughter of Inez Boustany Karre’ and Albert M. Karré, Sr., a proud WW II veteran, recipient of the Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star, the former Lafayette City Prosecutor and Lafayette City Attorney. 

The next district judge will serve Lafayette, Acadia and Vermilion parishes. Kay’s experience, training and community involvement give her a unique perspective not often seen among the judiciary. Raised in this community, she understands the people she will serve.
